Don't Write Like A Writer
If you find yourself saying, "I know what I want to say. Now how would a writer say it?" you are on the wrong track. And what will happen is the impact and excitement of what you want to say will eventually be watered down all the way to boring.

You should write as if you are speaking to the reader over a cup of coffee, telling him some exciting news. You want to be clear, and instill the drama and excitement of what you are telling him. Naturally the reader can't see the visual inflections - your hands waving about, your eyes growing wide, your facial expressions of surprise or distaste. That is where you have to insert the right words to get the impact of those visual inflections across to the reader.
